Highlights / General details
Starting with a walkthrough of the now trendy meatpacking district including the Collier Publishing building, guests walk along the park’s 1.45 mile built on a section of the former elevated freight railroad spur. Over and above the history and the development of the High Line licensed guides include some of the unique plant life along the trail and commissioned artwork sprouting up along the trail, and prominent historical and modern architecture. Unusual information such as urban cowboys who travelled up and down 10th Avenue in the early 1900’s as well as the invention of the Oreo cookie right here in New York are some of the odd facts included in the tour. Pier 59, the intended docking spot for the Titanic which can still be seen from the High Line, is also discussed on the tour.
