Floreana Island is the sixth largest island by extension in square kilometers of the Ecuadorian archipelago of the Galapagos Islands, administratively belongs to the parish called Santa Maria, the Canton of San Cristobal in the Galapagos Province, and its largest town in the village of Puerto Velasco Ibarra.
It measures 18 km long by 16 wide, covers an area of 173 km² and a maximum altitude of 640 meters (Cerro Pajas). It was named after Juan José Flores, the first president of Ecuador, during whose administration the government of Ecuador took possession of the archipelago.
