At 9:00 in the morning you are picked up at your hotel and driven to Antigua, the enchanting city of colonial Guatemala. Founded in 1524, Antigua is now a beautiful blend of ruins, restored colonial buildings, and modern colonial architecture. Antigua is a UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Site. The scenic horizon surrounding the city is filled with great mountains and volcanoes. The Full Day Tour of Antigua visits Ciudad Vieja, Guatemala´s first capital city, which was destroyed by earthquakes and flooding in 1541. The tour continues to San Antonio Aguas Calientes, an indigenous community where a variety of colorful textiles are produced using traditional methods. Lunch is provided in the tour. Afterwards, visit the celebrated Central Plaza and the antique Cathedral, the Municipal Government Building, and the Palace of the Captains General. The tour concludes with visits to colonial churches and monasteries, and a jade factory producing stunning jewelry. Afterwards, the tour returns to Guatemala City.
