Portobelo, home of the Black Christ, is a town full of history and legends. It became one of the most important points in the transfer of gold and silver because of its system of fairs and galleons and its long harbor and forts built to protect the growing town.
Gatun is a small town on the Atlantic Side of the Panama Canal, located south of the city of Colon at the point in which Gatun Lake meets the channel to the Caribbean Sea. The town is best known as the site of the Panama Canal's Gatun Locks and Gatun Dam, built between 1906-1914.
